About the Game
Altered Beast is a side-scrolling beat 'em up with light platforming elements set in Ancient Greece. The player resurrects a Roman centurion empowered by Zeus to rescue Athena from the demonic god Neff. By defeating white two-headed wolves, collect Spirit Balls to transform into one of five beasts—dragon (lightning bolts + barrier), bear (petrifying breath), tiger (zigzag fireballs), wolf (thrust + fireballs), or golden werewolf—each with unique combat abilities. Progress through five levels of undead Greek mythological monsters to confront Neff at the end of each stage. Support up to two players simultaneously. The game stands out for its flashy transformation sequences and large sprites on the Sega System 16 board.
