About the Game
Fray: Shugyou Hen is a 1991 vertical-scrolling shooter for the Game Gear. Players control Fray (full name Freya Jerbarn), a mage in training, across seven stages. She battles enemies and bosses while collecting power-ups, gold, and equipment upgrades. There is a jump button, shoot button (hold for powerful attacks costing blue orbs), and a menu for special spells. The game features light RPG progression and is a spinoff from the Xak series. It stands out as the only Japanese-exclusive version of this Xak gaiden story.
