Hakuoki - Memories of the Shinsengumi

Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi is a visual novel otome game set in 1860s Kyoto. Players control Chizuru Yukimura, a young woman from Edo sent to find her missing father Koudou Yukimura. She joins the Shinsengumi, a band of sword-wielding protectors against night demons, after being mistaken for a boy and taken captive. The story branches into six romance routes involving main characters like Toshizou Hijikata, Souji Okita, Hajime Saito, Heisuke Toudou, Sanosuke Harada, and Chikage Kazama, where player choices raise an affection meter and unlock different endings. Gameplay consists of text-heavy dialogue, decision trees, and skipping options, with side content like a CG gallery and encyclopedia on historical terms. What makes it stand out is its detailed samurai world blending romance, action, and supernatural mystery in a 3DS visual novel format.
