In the Far Reaches of Time and Space: Hachiyō Shō

You play as Yuan Gong Qian, a modern female high school student summoned to the ancient imperial city of Kyoto (京) in an alternate history where she becomes the Dragon God Shinko (白龍神子). She must restore the four divine borders (青龍, 朱雀, 白虎, 玄武) to protect the world from vengeful spirits and the ghost clan. Gameplay involves relaxing daily life in Kyoto mixed with action battles against monsters and spirits, branching romance routes with the Eight Leaves (八叶) warriors (e.g., characters like Kino, Kiyosumi, etc., each with unique backstories and fates), and multiple endings based on player choices. Characters feature the tragic yet loving bonds with the Eight Leaves, who guard her as a Shinko. It stands out as the first entry in the Haruka series, blending elegant Heian-era aesthetics, deep emotional storytelling, choice-driven romance, and light action in a visual novel-style RPG, with major graphical updates on PSP for the wide screen.
