About the Game

Kouchuu Kakutou - Mushi-1 Grand-Prix is a Nintendo DS fighting game in which players train and battle a collection of 30+ realistic 3D models of stag beetles (kabutomushi) and rhinoceros beetles (kuwagatamushi). Each beetle is equipped with 'Suppli' enhancement items and 'Suppli Techniques' special moves that players customize to create original battle strategies for Grand Prix tournaments. Combat uses a simple turn-based system on a 3x3 grid where players move or attack squares to predict and counter their opponent's beetle position, blending action-packed fights with light RPG elements and full CG cutscenes featuring an eccentric cast of insects and trainer characters. The game stands out for its humorous anime-style presentation of tough insects fighting on stumps, heavy emphasis on detailed talking dialogue, and the unique fusion of real beetle biology with competitive battling.
