Little Magic

Little Magic (魔道士阴谋) is a hybrid strategy RPG developed by Data East for the NES/Famicom. Players assume the role of a young prince who has been betrothed to the princess of a neighboring kingdom. An evil mage secretly murders the king of that land, seizes control, and forces the princess into marriage to expand his power. You must gather and lead a diverse party of heroes—including the prince, fire warriors, wind warriors, water warriors, priests, mages, martial artists, and giants—through a medieval fantasy world filled with dungeons, towns, and field maps. Turn-based tactical combat forms the core battle system, while field exploration, recruitment, and puzzle-solving drive the simulation portion. The standout feature is its unique unit classes and branching story paths that allow deep customization and replayability, making it a rare hybrid blending SRPG depth with RPG progression.
