Metroid - Samus Returns

Metroid: Samus Returns is an action-adventure game in which players control bounty hunter Samus Aran on the planet SR388, where she must exterminate the parasitic Metroid species after the Galactic Federation detects their threat. Gameplay follows a side-scrolling 2.5D perspective with free-aiming laser shots, Aeion abilities like Scan Pulse for environmental scanning and teleport stations for fast travel, and a new melee counterattack mechanic that stuns physical attackers. Samus encounters various Metroid life stages from jellyfish-like creatures to large reptilian beasts while navigating labyrinthine caverns. The story continues directly from Metroid II: Return of Samus, involving battles against Ridley and a post-credits X Parasite threat. What makes it stand out is the first traditional 2D Metroid since Zero Mission in 2004, with improved 3D visuals, dual-screen interface, and new mechanics that enhance exploration and combat over the 1991 Game Boy original.
