About the Game

Mk2 is the second mainline entry in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series for MAME. Gameplay involves one-on-one versus battles using a four-button fighting system with combos, special moves, and fatalities. Players fight through a tournament with multiple characters, each having unique fatalities and classic fatality moves. The story follows Shang Tsung's return to power a new tournament in Outworld after being banished. Characters include Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and many others like Reptile, Jade, and Noob Saibot. What makes it stand out is the expanded roster, improved combo system with better recovery times, new fatalities, and the memorable 2D sprite-based fights with iconic moves like the uppercut and special grapples.
