New Zealand Story Revolution

The New Zealand Story Revolution is a 2D platformer remake of the 1988 Taito arcade classic. Players control Tiki the plucky kiwi bird as he rescues his kidnapped kiwi friends (including his girlfriend) from a blue leopard seal and other enemies. Gameplay involves navigating scrolling levels with spikes, hazards, and re-spawning foes while using a bow-and-arrow to spear enemies, jump, and transport; collect letters to spell 'EXTEND' for extra lives; and complete non-linear stages by finding keys to release friends before rescuing them. The story is a zany retelling of the original with Tiki's noble quest across New Zealand-inspired mazes. Standout elements include dual-screen action (top screen) with map (bottom screen), touchscreen interactions for doors and buttons, improved graphics/BGM over the arcade version, and modes like Normal/Expert with four-player wireless support. Tiki receives multiple hits before losing a life, allowing angled shooting and easier survival compared to the original's one-hit deaths.
