About the Game
Popeye no Beach Volleyball is a beach volleyball sports game developed and published by Technōs Japan for the Sega Game Gear. Players control Popeye alongside a partner partner from Olive Oyl, J. Wellington Wimpy, Poopdeck Pappy, Swee'Pea, Eugene the Jeep, Dufus, or the Sea Hag in single-player or versus modes against the rival Brutus. Matches are played across varied environments including beach, wharf, garden, woods, castle, and stadium, with the goal of scoring seven points while preventing the opponent from doing the same. Between matches, mini-games such as fishing, weightlifting, and slot machine add variety. The game features authentic volleyball rules adapted to Popeye's comedic style, making it a licensed summer sports title exclusive to Japan.
