Seiken Densetsu - Final Fantasy Gaiden

Seiken Densetsu - Final Fantasy Gaiden is an action RPG developed and published by Square for the Game Boy. Players control Sumo, a gladiator imprisoned by the Dark Lord of Glaive. After learning of the Dark Lord's plan to destroy the Tree of Mana, Sumo escapes and joins forces with the Gemma Knights. He teams up with the mysterious maiden Fuji and the hermit Bogard to defeat the Dark Lord and his sorcerer Julius. Gameplay features overhead exploration, real-time combat, weapon and magic leveling, and a party system. It stands out as the first Mana series game and a prequel-like spin-off to Final Fantasy, pioneering action RPG elements on the Game Boy with Zelda-like top-down views.
