Soccer Kid

Soccer Kid is a side-scrolling platformer on the Game Boy Advance. The player controls the young protagonist Soccer Kid as he races across the world to collect five scattered pieces of the stolen World Cup trophy. The story follows the hero's journey through lush global locations including England's pastures, Italy's Riviera, Russia's forests, and Japan's bullet train. Gameplay features platforming, exploration, and unique soccer mechanics such as dribbling, shooting, overhead kicks, headers, and bicycle kicks; enemies are defeated by using the soccer ball as a weapon. There are three levels per country, soccer cards for the secret ending, and bonus levels to collect food. Characters include the main protagonist Soccer Kid and the antagonist alien pirate Scab. What stands out is the physics engine for realistic soccer ball movement fused with platforming and exploration in an arcade action format with a blistering soundtrack.
