About the Game
Space Harrier II is a rail shooter in which players fly over a checkerboard ground while dodging pillars, ionic columns, and enemy attacks. Players fire a large laser cannon with a controller button, with up to four shots on screen at once and an automatic-fire option; avoiding collisions and earning points grants extra lives. In the year 6236, Harrier receives a distress call from Sector 214 and travels through the Cosmic Gate to Fantasy Land, which has been overrun by hostile forces, to save the world alone. Harrier is the protagonist. Its distinguishing features on Mega Drive include innovative pseudo-3D graphics using pre-rendered enemies, backgrounds, and shadow sprites, digitized speech during play, and 13 stages with unique bosses.
