About the Game

Target Earth is a run-and-gun game where the player controls Rex, the Assault Suit Wing commander, piloting a 12-foot-tall armored mecha named Assault Suit Leynos. Set in 2201, it follows the Earth Defense League's war against the cyborg army called Chron, survivors of a failed space expedition. The player progresses through 8 stages involving battles on Ganymede, in space, on Earth, and inside enemy outposts. Gameplay features horizontal shooter mechanics with subdued platforming elements; performance after each stage unlocks new weapons, armor, and accessories. There are 14 weapons and a limited supply of ammunition, with a two-player mode that allows limited control over enemy movement and attacks. Certain scenes were censored in the Western release, including dialogue and romantic elements.
