About the Game
Dragon Sword 64 is an unreleased action-adventure game developed by Interactive Studios for the Nintendo 64, with a planned release in 1999. Players select one of four crusader characters (Cutter, Kailan, Aisha, or Gouranga) and fight monsters in a beat-em-up style reminiscent of Golden Axe. The story revolves around an evil god invading the land of Avantaria, enslaving the people and destroying their light god; the crusaders must defeat the enemy to free the land. It features 7 working levels in the prototype, co-op multiplayer, 4-player deathmatch, fireball magic attacks, cutscenes, and collectibles. The game stands out for its fantasy theme, character selection with unique strengths/weaknesses, and lush levels with varying weather and power-ups. However, it remains unreleased due to publisher concerns over profitability, existing only as a prototype.
