About the Game
Beggar Prince is a Taiwanese role-playing adventure game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. Players control Prince Steven of the Kingdom of Shatt who trades places with a pauper after growing tired of royal life, embarking on a single-character quest to reverse the Cat Minister's plan to turn all city residents into cats. The core gameplay involves exploration of towns and dungeons using limited tenacity and magic abilities, with progression through story-driven levels across four save slots. Key characters include Prince Steven and the villainous Cat Minister who sets the cat transformation scheme in motion. What makes it stand out is its unusual focus on one protagonist's adventures, large 4MB size for the era, and loose Prince and the Pauper parody in a whimsical yet challenging RPG format.
