Black Bass, The

The Black Bass is a 2D fishing simulation game for the NES where the player advances through a series of bass fishing tournaments held at four different lakes. Each day runs from sunrise to sunset, with progress saved via passwords. Gameplay occurs from an overhead perspective: the player casts the line using a power meter for strength, then manipulates the lure's movement in real-time to entice a bite, reeling in the fish carefully to prevent line breaks. A variety of lure types and colors are available, with effectiveness depending on weather, time of day, and location on the lake. Non-bass fish like pike, trout, or brown trout can be caught but do not affect tournament ranking. The game has no story, focusing purely on skill-based fishing competition and progression through ranks and larger lakes.
