Castlevania - The New Generation

Castlevania: The New Generation is a 1994 action-adventure platformer developed and published by Konami for the Sega Mega Drive. Players control two distinct protagonists in a linear 8-stage campaign set in 1917 amid World War I. John Morris wields the Vampire Killer whip in the Belmont family tradition, enabling diagonal attacks and versatile strikes. Eric Lecarde, a Spanish knight with high jump mobility, uses a spear and unique aerial movement for different traversal and combat styles. The story follows them defeating vampire Elizabeth Bartley and Drolta Tzuentes to prevent Dracula's resurrection through alliances and boss battles. What stands out is the dual-character progression system allowing unique paths, no time limit, gem-based energy, and smooth Genesis hardware-enhanced sprite work. The game is a perfect port of Bloodlines with faithful Castlevania horror action.
