Fantasy Tales

幻想传说 (Tales of Phantasia) is the first game in the Tales series, an action RPG with Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS). Gameplay involves exploring the open world of Aselia, random encounters, and real-time controllable party battles where the player directs only the main character while others auto-act or can be commanded. Story follows Cress Alvein, a swordsman from Tottis village, on a quest after his family is killed by Mars. He gathers companions including Mint Adnade (priestess), Chester Barklight (archer), Klarth F. Lester (scholar), Arche Klaine (half-elf mage), and optional Suzu Fujibayashi (ninja). The game stands out for its voice acting, time-travel plot involving Dhaos the antagonist, and pioneering Tales battle style with food bag healing. The PSP Full Voice Edition adds full voice acting and eight-directional movement.
