GG Aleste II ~ Power Strike II

GG Aleste II ~ Power Strike II is a vertically scrolling shooter developed by Compile and published by Sega for the Game Gear. The player controls test pilot Alice Waizen piloting the Lance Bird fighter craft, a prototype of the new GG Aleste Model II, to destroy an unknown parasitic object that has infected the ALG-45 Algo defense satellite. Gameplay involves six stages of intense enemy waves, bosses, and scrolling backgrounds, with a selectable main weapon (upgradable to 5 levels via Power Chips) and four special weapons (upgradable; Neo Napalm Gun, Hammer Hawk, Delta Form, Rising Masher). Limited bombs (G Strikes) and a rotating shield crystal provide defensive options, with power-ups appearing periodically. The game features customizable difficulty, bonus stages, and a story tying into the Aleste series as a sequel to GG Aleste. It stands out for its responsive controls, detailed boss designs like the gigantic mecha, technical performance on the limited hardware, and memorable stage progression.
