About the Game
Golden Axe II for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive is a side-scrolling beat 'em up action-adventure game. Players choose one of three warriors: the dwarf Gilius Thunderhead, the barbarian Ax Battler, or the amazon Tyris Flare, to recover the Golden Axe from the evil Dark Guld. Gameplay involves running, jumping, punching, grabbing, and using elemental magic spells (rock for Gilius, wind for Ax Battler, and others for Tyris) plus special attacks. The story is set three years after the original, with the heroes battling Dark Guld's forces in side-scrolling levels. Characters are the three returning warriors with unique abilities. What makes it stand out is the returning hero trio with improved magic and a new Duel Mode for single-player or versus, building on the classic Golden Axe formula.
