Hissatsu Doujou Yaburi

Hissatsu Doujou Yaburi is an RPG/fighting hybrid where players assume the role of a martial arts master in a fictional Chinese village. Players roam side-scrolling areas, walk, jump, and interact with NPCs in a classic RPG style to explore, save, heal, and train before engaging foes. Battles trigger a one-on-one fighting mode with kick/punch/down-jump mechanics and hop kicks, allowing players to defeat martial artists, bandits, ghouls, and dojo masters. Victory grants gold and XP to level up stats (health, attack, defense, skill) and upgrade skills/martial arts (choosing from karate, shorinji kempo, tai chi chuan at start). Tournaments in town buildings test players against groups, with backtracking for healing; dojos can be invaded and conquered, granting access to new arts. What makes it stand out is its seamless RPG progression blended with simple side-view fighting, including a multiplayer-style dojo invasion mechanic where masters fight each other. Characters are customizable with a name and 16 starting points; 12 dojos (including yours) with unique masters like Benisasori (whip), Char Siu (club), Fu Manchu (tai chi), Hayate (shuriken), and others. Gameplay is straightforward but requires careful health management and timing for jumps.
