About the Game
Kid Icarus is an action-platformer on NES/Famicom where players control angel Pit on side-scrolling 2D levels. Pit uses a bow and unlimited arrows, upgraded with the Protective Crystal (shield), Flaming Arrows (multi-hit) or Sacred Bow (longer range) when health allows. Collect hearts from defeated enemies to buy items from stores or access chambers (treasure, enemy nests, hot springs) and fight bosses for the three Sacred Treasures: Mirror Shield, Light Arrows, Wings of Pegasus. Stages span the Underworld, Overworld and Skyworld; fortresses are non-scrolling labyrinths with bosses. After equipping all treasures, the final sky temple stage shifts to a side-scrolling shooter where Pit flies freely with wings to defeat Medusa and rescue Palutena. Five endings depend on performance; it stands out for blending platforming, RPG item collection and chamber exploration with a Greek mythology theme and boss variety.
