About the Game

King of the Monsters is a 2D one-on-one fighting game featuring giant kaiju-style monsters in a futuristic 1996 Japan setting. Players select from six monsters and battle by punching, kicking, or grabbing for slams and special moves, with battles ending via pin or time limit. There are 12 levels across six cities (eight in ports), with a structure where players defeat all monsters in order, then repeat in different cities. Key characters include Geon (dinosaur-like), Astro Guy (Ultraman-inspired), Rocky (golem), and others. It stands out for its fun arcade-style monster brawls, high-energy action, and accessible controls that capture the kaiju battle vibe from the arcade original, making it a solid SNES fighter for multiplayer sessions.
