Lennus - Kodai Kikai no Kioku

Paladin's Quest (Lennus: Kodai Kikai no Kioku) is a turn-based top-down RPG on SNES/Super Famicom. Players control Chezni, a boy at a magic school who accidentally activates an ancient machine called Dal Gren on a dare, releasing a powerful evil entity. As headmaster orders him to destroy Dal Gren before it destroys the world, Chezni travels across the continents of Naskuot and Saskuot to find the four orbs, gathering companions along the way including Midia and mercenary friends. The unique mechanic uses HP for all magic instead of MP, making healing and damage balance critical. Story involves utopian/dystopian elements with three legendary figures (Kormu, Sophie, Gabnid) shaping the planet and evil dictator Zaygos. What makes it stand out is its quirky science-fantasy RPG style with memorable graphics and non-standard magic system.
