Madou Monogatari I - 3-Tsu no Madoukyuu

Madou Monogatari I - 3-Tsu no Madoukyuu is a first-person dungeon crawler RPG for the Game Gear. Young six-year-old Arle Nadja must climb a massive tower filled with illusion monsters to collect the three magic spheres and graduate from Magic Kindergarten. Gameplay mixes exploration with menu-driven magic casting using elemental attacks like Fire, Ice Storm, Thunder, and Bayoen; no numerical stats are used, only facial expressions and sprites for power. Defeat enemies such as Banshee Trio, Doppelganger, and Lycanthrope to advance. Characters include the heroine Arle Nadja and the helpful NPC Camus, who may teach spells or hinder progress based on playtime. What makes it stand out is the unique RPG twist of sprite-based magic that evolves into the later Puyo Puyo puzzle franchise.
