Pocket Monsters - Midori

Pocket Monsters Midori is a role-playing RPG for the original Game Boy. The player controls a young trainer from Pallet Town who chooses Bulbasaur as his starter Pokémon from Professor Oak. The story follows the protagonist's journey through the Kanto region to collect all eight Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four and Champion, while his rival Blue pursues the same goal. Key characters include the protagonist, his rival Blue, Professor Oak, and gym leaders like Brock, Misty and Giovanni. Gameplay features turn-based battles where the player trains Pokémon to level up, catches wild Pokémon with Poké Balls, and explores the overworld. What makes it stand out is being the first mainline Pokémon game, the version-exclusive Venusaur starter and Bulbasaur as the only starter available, the inclusion of all 151 Pokémon in one game, and the foundational gameplay loop that introduced Pokémon collection, training and battling that would become the series standard.
