About the Game

Rampart is a real-time strategy defense game for the Famicom. Players build walls around castles using Tetris-like blocks and fire cannons to repel invading enemies. The gameplay alternates between construction and combat phases, with cannons targeting sea monsters, soldiers, or other threats. There are three difficulty modes: Little Red Riding Hood protecting grandma's house (easy), fantasy medieval (medium), and Sengoku-era Japan (hard). The story involves defending castles from multiple storylines across missions. Characters are not prominent but include enemies like pirates, dragons, or samurai. What makes it stand out is its innovative Tetris block building combined with action shooting in a medieval setting, with training levels and extensive two-player mode in the Famicom version.
