About the Game

Pyramids of Ra (known as Scarabeus on NES) is a grid-based puzzle game in which you control an archaeologist navigating through ancient Egyptian tombs. You draw a single continuous path across numbered floor tiles in each pyramid to reach the designated S start tile, while also visiting every tile. Tiles can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise, and the path may revisit tiles as long as no overlap occurs. Progression involves multiple pyramids with increasing difficulty through more complex tile arrangements and required paths. The story follows an archaeologist exploring tombs to uncover ancient secrets and escape. No named characters beyond the player archaeologist exist. What makes it stand out is its pure logic-based gameplay and tile manipulation mechanics, allowing endless replayability through endless variants of tomb layouts. There are no specific game modes beyond the single-player puzzle progression.
