In Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, players control two protagonists, Julio Sven and Caro Orange, living in Minakuru Town, who embark on a time-travel adventure to stop thieves from ruining the legends of the Tales series. They use a time machine called the Dream to visit historical events from various Tales games and prevent timeline disruptions. The core gameplay features a unique costume system where players collect and equip job outfits, Tales heroes' costumes (from Phantasia, Destiny, Eternia, Destiny 2, Symphonia), and other franchises' items, granting characters new attributes, abilities, and special techniques while also altering appearance and voice. Battles combine turn-based movement on a grid with Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS) real-time combat when parties engage enemies; players manage up to four parties of three characters each for strategic turns, gathering treasure, fulfilling missions, and using cooking to boost party stats. Game modes include open-world exploration in Minakuru Town, dungeon crawling, and episodic historical visits. What makes it stand out is its strategic multi-party control, extensive cosplay customization, and crossover appeal with over 30 Tales characters, plus special events triggered by unique combinations.
