About the Game

Shi no Meikyuu - Labyrinth of Death is a roguelike RPG for the Sega Mega Drive, released via Sega Game Toshokan and later boxed. Players control Trykaar, a nondescript hero who enters a forbidden labyrinth to battle monsters and claim the stolen Holy Goblet from a dragon at the 30th floor. Gameplay involves navigating randomly generated levels, equipping weapons, armor, and magic rings, fighting turn-based enemies, and exploring the dungeon. Before entering, the hero talks to villagers for advice. After victory, the hero returns to the village to receive praise. The story is simple: Trykaar accepts the quest for the goblet. Characters include the hero Trykaar and villagers. What makes it stand out is its classic roguelike procedural dungeon generation with item management on the powerful MD hardware, offering deep tactical combat in a compact, atmospheric package with no complex plot.
