Super Shougi 2

Super Shogi 2 is a strategy board game featuring traditional shogi mechanics on the Super Famicom. Players compete head-to-head on a 9x9 board using 40 pieces per side (king, rook, bishop, gold general, silver general, knight, lance, and 9 pawns). Each player can promote pieces upon reaching the opponent's territory and drop captured pieces back onto the board, creating fluid tactical battles. The game includes single-player versus computer modes and features in-game recording for replaying matches. It stands out for its faithful implementation of shogi rules with crisp SNES graphics and sound effects that enhance the strategic tension without any added story or characters beyond the standard shogi setup.
