About the Game

Tempo is an action-adventure platformer for the Sega 32X. You play as Tempo, a green anthropomorphic grasshopper with a love for music, who teams up with his girlfriend Katy (a butterfly) to stop the evil King Dirge from stealing the trophy at the Major Minor Show dance contest on the planet Rythmia. Gameplay features side-scrolling platforming with music-themed levels; Tempo runs and jumps while snapping fingers to stun enemies and perform kicks for close combat. A key power-up turns Tempo into a dancing powerhouse that clears the screen of foes, and Katy can automatically follow and assist by attacking nearby enemies. The game includes rhythm mini-games, hidden collectibles, and boss encounters with scaling effects unique to the 32X hardware.
