About the Game

Daikatana is an action-adventure game on Game Boy Color, a Zelda-like top-down dungeon crawler developed by Will and published by Kemco. Gameplay features exploration of dungeons with puzzles, boss fights, sword combat, and projectile weapons; you control the swordmaster Hiro, who can switch to sidekicks Mikiko or Superfly Johnson that have limited weapon access. The story follows Hiro, whose family enemy Kage Mishima stole the magical Daikatana sword capable of time travel; Hiro must travel through history to obtain it and stop Mishima from ruling the world. Characters include Hiro Miyamoto (main hero), Mikiko (captured friend), and Kage Mishima (villainous enemy). It stands out for its faithful adaptation of the Zelda formula to the GBC's handheld constraints, colorful visuals, and positive reception as a compact adventure superior to the original PC/N64 version in quality.
