About the Game
World Heroes is a 2D versus fighting game. Gameplay involves one-on-one matches using the standard A-button punch, B-button kick, and C-button throw system, with weak/strong variants via timing on inputs. Players fight through 'Normal Game' mode, battling seven random opponents then the final boss Geegus, or 'Death Match' mode with environmental hazards like spiked walls and oil puddles. Characters include Hanzo Hattori, the Iga ninja protagonist; Fuuma Kotaro, his rival; Kim Dragon, the martial arts movie star; Jeanne d'Arc, the French swordswoman; J. Carn, the Mongolian warrior; Muscle Power, the pro-wrestler; Brocken, the cyborg; and Rasputin, the Russian sorcerer. The story follows Dr. Brown building a time machine to gather legendary warriors from history for a tournament to crown the greatest fighter, with Geegus as the hidden final threat. It stands out for introducing multi-jumping and air-projectile mechanics unique to characters like Hanzo, plus the eccentric roster and hazard-based Death Match mode.
