Xenosaga I & II

Xenosaga I & II is a traditional RPG retelling of the first two entries in the Xenosaga series, faithfully adapting their story on Nintendo DS while condensing it into 18-25 hours of playtime. Players control Shion Uzuki as the protagonist alongside KOS-MOS, with other characters like Ziggy, Latin, and Realian Alex. Gameplay features turn-based battles on a grid where characters move freely to position for attacks (physical or distance-based), point-based ATB system, and combo mechanics; touch-screen mini-games include archery (Asteroids-Arkanoid hybrid), connect-the-dots puzzles, and button-slamming shooters to progress the narrative. The story follows Shion's journey to Second Miltia after the Zohar incident, exploring themes of fate, humanity, and the KOS-MOS project with rich character interactions and revelations. What makes it stand out is its faithful yet compact adaptation of complex space-opera lore, detailed animations, and DS-optimized touch interactions that enhance combat and exploration without relying on stylus for main gameplay.
