About the Game
Alcahest is an action RPG for the Super Famicom where players control the young swordsman Alen through eight linear top-down stages. He explores environments filled with blocks, collects items and power-ups, and battles enemies and bosses while gaining experience points. After certain bosses, Alen obtains abilities from the four elemental guardians, enabling powerful spirit-based combat and unique attacks. The story follows Alen as he aids the guardians in stopping the revival of the demon god Alcahest, who threatens Panakeia. Key characters include the wizard Garstein, the princess Elikshil, the knight Sirius, the cyborg Magna, and the shape-shifting dragon goddess Nevis. It stands out for its smooth animations, flashy magic effects, responsive combat, and strong dark fantasy tone in 16-bit style.
