About the Game

Brandish is an action role-playing game for SNES where the player controls the warrior Ares (known as Varik in English) in a top-down view. The player must navigate over 40 floors of dungeon labyrinths across five areas—Ruins, Tower, Cave, Dark Zone, and Fortress—filled with monsters, traps, and puzzles to escape. Gameplay features real-time overhead controls for movement, turning, strafing, and attacking. The story follows Ares, a swordsman pursued by his nemesis Dela Delon (known as Alexis in English), a sorceress seeking revenge after he killed her master; both fall into the cursed Ruins of Vittoria. The ending varies depending on whether Ares helps Dela. What makes it stand out is its innovative mouse-based combat and puzzle-heavy dungeon crawling in a fantasy setting with dragon guardians and ancient power essences.
