Animorphs

Animorphs is an action-adventure RPG developed by Runny-Fun and published by Ubisoft for the Game Boy Color, released in 2000. Based on K.A. Applegate's book series, the player assumes the role of a teenage Animorph and must collect DNA from various animals and aliens (Yeerks) to morph into them, using special abilities like crawling (snake), swimming (fish) or flying (bird) in side-scrolling exploration and mini-games. Combat is turn-based card-battle style similar to Pokémon, where defeating enemies grants new morphs; up to 45 animal forms are possible, but staying morphed too long risks permanent transformation. The story follows four kids battling an alien invasion by Yeerks. It stands out for its unique morphing system that blends exploration, transformation strategy and card-based fighting, allowing creative use of animal skills in both combat and navigation.
