About the Game
Arle no Bouken: Mahou no Jewel is a monster-training RPG for Game Boy Color featuring protagonist Arle Nadja from the Puyo Puyo series. Players explore the Hero's Village, collect Puyo cards containing various monsters, and use them in battles alongside Arle and her companion Carbuncle. Battles involve summoning up to two monsters from a hand of six to fight opponents and their card monsters; defeating the leader wins the battle with bonus EXP for full clears. Monsters can be enhanced with stat-raising gems, and Carbuncle gains power-ups for accessing new areas. The story involves a magical barrier, a festival, and turning transformed Puyos back from cards before time runs out. It stands out as a Pokémon-like experience in the Puyo Puyo universe with card-based summoning and classic characters like Schezo Wegey as bosses.
