Astro Warrior

Astro Warrior is a vertically scrolling shooter video game for the Sega Master System. The player pilots the Astoro Raider spaceship to destroy waves of enemies in three levels ending with bosses, then repeat the cycle with increased difficulty. Enemies include clusters of shapes (circles, triangles, etc.) in varied attack patterns; power-ups are collected by shooting ground targets to boost ship speed, strengthen the laser weapon, or gain two Gradius-style option ships. Capture enemy Weapons Supply Ships for extra speed and firepower. Starts with three lives; all lives lost ends the game. No stage obstacles. It stands out for vibrant graphics exploiting the Master System's color palette, large number of enemy sprites, and early shmup action that introduced power-up strategy and helper ships in a compact vertically scrolling format.
