About the Game

Battle Blaze is a 2D fighting game set in the medieval kingdom of Virg. Players control one of five unique characters in a tournament-style arena or quest mode, using swords, morningstars, knives, and other weapons in brawler-style combat. The simplified two-button control scheme (attack and jump) emphasizes accessibility with directional hold inputs for special moves. Gameplay features single-player Hero mode for story progression and multiplayer Battle mode, with the goal of defeating the Dark Lord Autarch. Story follows Kerrell avenging his father Durill, who was killed by a phantom possessed by the demon Autarch, turning tournament contestants into rivals. Characters include the agile daggers user Tesya, the long-reach Dark Blade knight Adrick, the beast leader Shnouzer, and the orc farmer Lord Gustoff. It stands out as one of the few fantasy medieval fighting games on SNES with a small roster and simple mechanics that feel like a beat-'em-up.
