About the Game
In Final Fight, players select one of three characters—Mayor Mike Haggar (strong wrestler), Cody Travers (agile brawler with knives), or Guy (nimble ninja)—to battle the Mad Gear gang in Metro City. The story follows the trio's rescue of Jessica, Mayor Haggar's daughter and Cody's girlfriend, from the gang's kidnapping plot. Gameplay features side-scrolling beat 'em up mechanics with up to two-player co-op in the arcade version: basic attacks, grabs, throws, special spins, and unique character moves (Cody's knife strikes, Guy's wall-jump flying kick, Haggar's piledriver). Hidden in breakable barrels are weapons (pipes, swords, knives), health food, and bonus points; there are six stages with boss fights and a time limit. It stands out as the original arcade-to-SNES port that popularized the genre, despite the SNES version omitting Guy, co-op in some ports, and the Industrial Area stage.
