About the Game

Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, known as Monshou no Nazo in Japan, is a tactical role-playing game on the Super Famicom. It is split into two books: Book One remakes Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, following young Marth of Altea on a quest to find the Falchion and seal the Dark Dragon Medeus, with allies like Caeda, Jagen, Hardin, Nyna and Gotoh. Book Two continues two years later as Hardin becomes emperor and uses Marth's army to conquer neighbors, leading to a war of heroes against corruption by Gharnef and Medeus. Battles use grid-based maps with turn-based automatic combat, Dismount command for mounted units, weapon triangle, and Support bonuses from story relationships. The story involves the Fire Emblem shield, Starsphere shards, and final confrontations with Gharnef and Medeus. What makes it stand out is its seamless remake and sequel in one package, improved graphics over the original, dedicated story branches with character growth, and the introduction of Dismount as a key mechanics that refined the series' gameplay.
