God Medicine - Fantasy Sekai no Tanjou

In God Medicine: Fantasy Sekai no Tanjou, three schoolchildren Noah, Ken, and Miki discover a portal to the fantasy world of Phantom after a mysterious fire destroys the game company. They inherit the powers of the original heroes' souls—Mika Ardan (warrior), Buttle Manya (priest), and Margeur Loray (mage)—and must venture to save both worlds from the demon Grova who threatens to conquer reality. Gameplay features a classic turn-based RPG system with party-based combat where players level up the three characters, equip weapons and armor, learn spells (fire, ice, wind, thunder attacks; heals and buffs like Aura), and charge special Maphu attacks. Gems from defeated bosses are inserted into weapons for unique effects, and the game includes side quests, town exploration in Kokubu town, and a meta-story twist tying real life to the game world. What makes it stand out is its charming, heartfelt premise of ordinary kids becoming heroes, lighthearted fantasy tone, and innovative metatextual narrative for a 1993 Game Boy RPG, despite the system's limitations.
