About the Game

In the 1986 NES/Famicom port of Gradius, players control the Vic Viper spaceship in a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up. The Bacterion aliens launch a massive assault on Earth, forcing Vic Viper into battle to protect the planet. Gameplay features side-scrolling action with 360-degree ship movement, shooting waves of enemies, and power-up pods that grant upgrades like rapid-fire lasers, force fields, missiles, double beams, and hyper speed. Collect pods to power up the ship; each stage ends with a challenging boss. Supports single-player or two-player alternating modes. The Konami Code (down, down, up, up, B, A) grants extra lives. Story follows Vic Viper repelling the alien invasion. What makes it stand out is its arcade-perfect precision on console, spawning the legendary Konami Code and influencing the entire Gradius series.
