About the Game

Hana no Star Kaidou is a side-scrolling platformer where you control two fictional musicians, Moeta Hatano and Goro Toyota, simultaneously with a single D-pad as they travel from Tokyo to New York City to become famous. Players use music notes as projectiles to stun enemies, then collect random items while managing yellow records and special level objectives; pressing up glues the characters together for coordinated jumps and attacks, while pressing down separates them. The game features maze-like stage designs with cryptic quasi-English objectives, time limits, and health draining if you linger, plus optional enemy fan or paparazzi characters that can kill you if mishandled. What makes it stand out is the innovative dual-character control in a Famicom platformer, blending Binary Land-style co-op with platforming, item collection, and puzzle-like navigation challenges.
