Hurricanes

Hurricanes is a 2D platformer based on the DiC cartoon of a soccer team. In the Game Gear version the player controls American player Cal, who must collect a specific number of items in each stage to open the exit and progress. Gameplay features platforming, item collection, and soccer ball mechanics. The story follows the Hurricanes football team as they play matches on a remote island while competing against the rival Gorgons owned by a corrupt magnate. Characters include Cal, the tritely perky blonde, and other team members; the team consists of three males (one white, one black, one Chinese) plus the blonde. It stands out for its light-hearted tone, unique ball-based platforming, and being the only official release on Game Gear in Europe.
