About the Game

The Last Starfighter is a side-scrolling shooter where you pilot the Gunstar, a futuristic spacecraft. Gameplay involves flying through 15 levels, destroying enemy fighters and battleship installations with a single cannon weapon while avoiding walls and homing bombs. No power-ups or special abilities. Characters are not present; the story ties loosely to the film with a high-schooler transported to fight an evil empire after arcade victory, but the game is a barebones conversion of the C64 game Uridium with altered sprites and soundtrack. What makes it stand out is its arcade-style space combat on the NES hardware.
