About the Game

Monaco GP is an overhead racing game where you control a Formula 1 car driving through endless Monaco streets, collecting points by passing AI rival cars and navigating sections like construction sites, slip zones, narrow bridges, and tunnels. There are three difficulty levels with varying numbers of opponent cars that increase in speed and aggression; the game progresses without a strict time limit until you reach high scores to gain extra lives. No specific named characters appear, as it is a single-player endurance race against procedural opponents. What makes it stand out is its unique progression system where you earn additional cars/lives for high scores, combined with simple but effective speed-up/slow-down controls that reward skillful driving and high scores over traditional time-based racing. On the SG-1000, it faithfully adapts the arcade mechanics despite hardware limitations, emphasizing survival and momentum over direct competition.
